When asked about abortion in an interview with Gentlemens Quarterly, Michael Steel, chairman of the Republican National Committee said, “I think that's an individual choice.”
Faithful to the first guarantee of the Declaration of Independence, we assert the inherent dignity and sanctity of all human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution, and we endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children. GOP.com
How can the Republican Party stand for the sanctity of life and their leader publicly support Pro-choice? Although I admire his honesty, I do not believe this man can be the leader of any political party that claims conservative values.
US News describes him as “”a devout Catholic” who attends services regularly. It also outlines several very impressve accomplishments. I actually admire what he has done with his life.
As a Christian, I am pro-life. Obviously, he must interpret The Holy Bible differently than the Pope. Mr. Steele was considered pro-life before becoming the leader of the RNC, but it seems he's just another flip-flopper. Everyone has the right to change their mind; after obtaining a political position is not the most popular time to do it.
