I look at the many changes in Bridgeport and am thankful we have a prosperous town.
We have a new city hall, jail/police station, relatively new schools, main street and museum, nice library, up-to date parks, a 900 acre industrial park, first-class airport and several other nice amenities for a town this size.
I wonder if the city fathers ever considered there would not be enough money to take care of them or staff them?
I am thankful we have other means to pay the bills now that the oil boom has subsided. Bridgeport uses the utility rates to help offset the decline in tax revenue. Bridgeport and Decatur are also making a first class effort to supplement revenue by providing a speed trap, which is another way for them to "protect and serve".
Make no mistake, I love Wise County, I just don't agree with everything she does...

Denney, you failed to list our state-of-the-art hospital?
So crime does pay sometimes? Speeding is a crime there, right?
Nice to know the city fathers are taking full advantage of crime, eh?
Participating so to speak.J-
I am SO glad I don't have to pay those ridiculous electricity bills any more!
I live in a house almost twice the size of one I had in Bport and my electric bill is still less!!!
