Maybe not every sermon, but most sermons, my pastor says something to the effect that anyone attending for the first time should understand that the people to their left and right are not sin-free, righteous people, just people who want to follow Christ to cast off the chains of sin. He varies the message a bit each time, and always includes that he is a sinner as well.
