Do you actually know the state of
this diverse, divided union?

"Saudi Arabia's top council of senior clerics said Charlie Hebdo's latest depiction of the prophet served extremists looking to justify murder and terrorism." Sounds like the clerics and the Pope agree on this particular issue.

Surely you don’t believe that the media is innocent of bloodshed and their hands are clean. Just because they can justify their actions through freedom of speech, they continued to stir up a hornet’s nest and keep getting more innocent people killed. Remember, they also have the freedom to pause and let things calm down. Reminds me of the Ferguson protesters.

Unfortunately, the media would be hard pressed to admit that all the publicity they are giving these terrorists activists is making things much worse. The pen may be mightier than the sword, but still no match for ratings and profits. Making the news is much more prestigious than reporting it.

On another note, you may be thankful that consumer prices are down and inflation is low, but the Federal Reserve is concerned that “it is also a warning sign that the economy remains in far from good health.” NY Times Of course, I began having reservations after I read a quote from Narayana Kocherlakota, the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis president.

Have you noticed that the U.S. National debt has grown so big that even hard core conservatives won’t talk about it anymore. Most people are in complete denial, but the right is terrified someone’s going to cancel our credit card…soon.

Question of the Month: “Do we really need a State of the Union address anymore?” He wants to sell a new tax increase package, cybersecurity, internet access, free college, paid family leave and the war on terror. (He calls it terror when he needs funding.)  Does anyone actually believe this guy?

And on the other end of the spectrum is Senator John McCain calling for boots on the ground to combat jihadists in Syria and Iraq.  He might be right, but he won't be popular!

Once the Supreme Court bans states rights on same-sexers, they will probably consider looking into autonomous “No Go Zones” inside the USA for Muslim citizens in a religious freedom rights case. Several religions would go for it, Mormons are the first to come to mind.

Selma snubbed by the Oscars? Welcome to Hollywood. They’ve been dealing with the entitlement mentality for decades, and don’t really care about public opinion. I can see it now, Selma Does Sharpton.

If you asked me what groups in America have the courage to protest and disrupt an MLK event on MLK day, I would have said none. It did happen in St Louis Monday, by those still angered by the deaths of unarmed African Americans by the police. I wonder how many Caucasians were invited to protest and disrupt the MLK march?

Would someone please explain to me why countries around the world, disguised as ISIS, are not buying plane tickets for all those wanting to go to fight in the Middle East? Identifying extremists is made easy and deportation could not get any cheaper. You don’t have to let them back in the country. In America, the ACLU would go postal…
