Our Clueless Educators

Principal Sees Racism in Peanut Butter

An Oregon grade school principal suggested that peanut butter and jelly sandwiches might be racially and culturally offensive.

“What about Somali or Hispanic students who might not eat sandwiches?” said Verenice Gutierrez in an interview with the Portland Tribune.

Gutierrez, principal of Harvey Scott K-8 School, was being interviewed about the school district’s equity training program designed to narrow the achievement gap. The newspaper said she “picks up on the subtle language of racism every day” and used the peanut butter sandwich to illustrate her point. Read more: Fox News

Utter and complete idiocy! This is just one example of where education in America is going.

I do not want my children indoctrinated into a world where they are worried about eating a peanut butter sandwich because it might be racially or culturally offensive.

Celebrate our differences, our diverse cultures! What happened to the American freedom message of: "if you respect my culture, I'll respect yours"?

What's next, ban French fries, Italian dressing and Greek salads because they offend a child's culture?

Does anyone really believe meaningful instruction and education is possible in a politically correct environment? We would have to throw out numerous subjects of education, including American and world history, foreign languages, ect...

Let people be themselves. Start educating and stop feeding the black hole of political correctness, it just creates more distraction, division, confusion and ultimately, isolation.

For a long time I have suspected that my bed pillows are in a conspiracy along with my shower curtain and the living room drapes. It's hard to explain, but it's racial, and if white people had never come to America I wouldn't be concerned with racism in my own home!
