The Most Convincing Liar Wins!

If Barack 0bama teaches American politicians anything, it’s that the most convincing liar wins. As long as a politician tells everyone what they want to hear; promises them everything they ask for and keeps away from sex scandals, he/she has a damn good chance of becoming popular, which wins elections.

Let's face reality. We live in a hedonistic society where the masses are more concerned about their weekend than the state of their freedoms. Complacency in America is running rampant. We expect our politicians to be dishonest and corrupt; but that’s okay as long as the government leaves us alone to make a living and enjoy our lives.

Ninety-five percent (95%) of the American population is piss ignorant about politics. They either don't care or don't want to know. Of that 95%, just under 68% are registered voters; and of that 68% of registered voters, 64% of them actually vote, according to the 2006 census. Many of those who vote either vote party lines; who they like from watching commercials; or they may just like the way the name looks on the ballot.

Today, control and acquisition of our nation’s wealth through big business and taxation seems to be what our politicians propose. Ignorance and complacency will allow them to achieve their objective. To be in command of the US government is for patriots, not patronizers.

Successful politicians promise everyone everything to become elected. They must payoff their most active and loyal contributors, no matter what they promise the people. It’s a vicious cycle that has destroyed every advanced society since the beginning of time.

Popularity is hard to come by for most politicians on the national level; especially if they are conservative. Attempting to cut spending and really reform the government machine is next to impossible. The avaricious quest for power and money controls the members of the most powerful organization in the world.

I hate liars. I abhor those who compromise their integrity for personal gain. I know it’s human nature to desire wealth; but attaining it at the expense of others is despicable.

God Bless America, and may God smite those who lead her astray.

Sometimes I feel this is the way I'm going about life....and I hate myself for it. I'm just tired.

There's certainly a case to be made for the notion that the "ruling class", if you can call it that, seeks to accumulate and expand their power and control by boosting the societal organs (mass media) that keep the hoi polloi amused, or at least distracted.

Witness the disproportionate attention afforded recent celebrity deaths, the ascendancy of multiple "entertainment" channels (TMZ et al), i-Phone apps, and various & sundry other time wastes. Are such things necessarily and intrinsically sinister? No. But, in the aggregate, like the Devil's minions, they corrupt and corrode our societal foundations.

At some point, and I would posit that we may be there, a critical mass is reached, beyond which we have a helluva task to try to separate the wheat from the chaff and return to doing what needs to be done. We're facing an uphill battle if we wish to ever regain the glory that was ours in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Do I believe that "chaff" out there today is deliberately generated? Perhaps not, but our failure to curb those weeds sure does provide an effective screen for those unscrupulous souls who would prey upon us.

No Puritan I, I nonetheless can't help but believe we've got to alter our course, to get back in line with what our Creator intended.

I use to be a political junkie...I found myself ranting like you though on the other side. I gave up when Texas voted Bush into his second term as governor and then the American people put him in the office of the President TWICE! Now I turn on talk radio and laugh at the callers and let it go...I mean can you believe that they were calling in to say how smart Palin was??? Did they even listen to her stupid speech?? I mean really listen? It was incoherent. I know she is anti-abortion and that is the only thing they care about so they forgive her lack of knowledge on all the other important issues and tout her as the end all. They blame the press for dogging her....I don't get it I watched those interviews she couldn't answer the questions and they were not HARD. She reminds me of my sorority sisters in college--I like her personally but to be president?? Come on I want someone smarter than me. So anyway now I just listen and laugh and thank the lord they are the minority. Now about this weekend..I've got some plans to make.
