I know the history of the Republican Party over my lifetime and it scares and saddens me.

What they were supposedly about 200+ years ago is irrelevant to our current times and thoughts. Their history is also left up to personal interpretation. I reckon it to Bible interpretation...people pick and choose what they want to believe or find relevant to their personal needs. They overlook the rest of it.
