The so-called "conservative party" is changing... or maybe I should say the GOP is "coming out of the closet"! Political popularity seems to override GOP conservative party values if it gets them elected! People now seem to vote for the best/worst of two evils. Really, how many times have you heard someone had to vote for a particular politician because they could not allow his opponent to get the office? "Republicans chose a candidate with softer edges: a female lawmaker who embraces gay marriage, fully supports abortion rights and has a close relationship with leading labor officials in her region."True conservatives (fiscal & moral) will need to find another political party to support if they want to give America back to the moral majority; which include conservative values. Whether you agree or disagree is irrelevant, conservatives don't go both ways; at least not in public.

i have long thought our governor was afflicted with a bad case of "how did i get here," and was completely uncapable of leadership. However, the notion that he might not win his own party's nomination has spurred the man into action, and if he's willing to make the states' rights argument against Oboma on bealf of me and my state, then got get 'em governor good hair. Leave us alone!

Sad to say that the one and only time I voted republican was also the very first time I voted when I was 21 years old. I (and apparently only me) voted for Richard M. Nixon. The man got into office two times by landslide votes yet I am the only one that I personally know who admits to voting for him. I did not vote for him the second time.
Reason why a woman with my political leanings voted for him were three-fold.
1.) I was a young naif and I was frightened. He represented strength to me.
2.) My husband (who was a total bully) told me I had to vote democrat. I had to prove him wrong.
3.) I felt he was the best of two evils. McGovern was too off the grid for me.
I must say that #3 is also the reaso I voted for Jesse Ventura for Governor of Minnesota a few years back. I'd love it if he were still our Governor now. Pawlenty is not a man for the people. Ventura was.
So I guess I do believe that people choose (often) what they deem the best of two evils. Doesn't mean we are right.
