They need a HUGE Six Flags sign just before the intersection: "You must be shorter than this to go under the bridge".
I'm not a civil engineer, but at some point after repeatedly repairing the bridge trestle, it might make sense for UP or BNSF or whoever to raise the grade about a foot on both sides of the bridge.
The former COO of BNSF is a family friend. If memory serves, he once told me that freight trains can handle a 1% grade, so if they raise it 12" at the bridge, would only have to build up/taper a hundred feet or so in each direction.
Gotta wonder what the frequency of the fails was on that bridge. The joy of time-lapse photography...
