Question of the day

For the legally unchallenged...

Is it true that the State of Texas can fine me $4000, put me in jail for a year and the tack on a $10,000 civil penalty if I knowingly have my computer repaired by someone who is not a licensed private investigator? Rife v. Texas Private Security Board

About two years ago, I was dating a girl whose dad told that although he was a computer expert, he needed to get a PI license in order to be able to testify in court in that field.

I told him he was crazy.

A few months later I learned there had been some odd change in the law. (Quite frankly, I've never seen it but something has changed.

Anybody but me think this a way to have a licensed investigator perusing your files for anything the Government deems illegal? Maybe a search for Heat Lamps? Too much interest in the mcVeigh case? Lots of little "Flags".
