Angry Americans are furious about the AIG big bonus bailout given to its top executives; many outside the United States. Chris Dodd, the man to your left, is doing the DC shuffle amid accusations that he’s responsible for allowing it.
According to Fox, the Senator is trying to figure out a way to get the money back. It may be difficult though since Dodd added the amendment that ‘provides an “exception for contractually obligated bonuses agreed on before Feb. 11, 2009”, thereby okaying the bonuses in writing.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! In his official statement on AIG executive bonuses the Senator says, "This is another outrageous example of executives - including those whose decisions were responsible for the problems that caused AIG's collapse - enriching themselves at the expense of taxpayers. A car mechanic or teacher in Connecticut shouldn’t have to subsidize the bad decisions of these executives. Executives at other companies receiving TARP funds have voluntarily foregone bonuses - there's no reason why those at AIG shouldn't do the same."
If you ever wonder how a crook like this stays in office, you need to look no further than Project Vote Smart. This website is dedicated to showing Connecticut voters all the government programs and aid that their Senator is providing them. They don’t care if AIG was his largest campaign contributor or that one of AIG’s largest offices for Financial Products is operated in Connecticut. All they care about it "what can you do for me?". I can't wait till they get the bill.
After giving AIG $170 billion in taxpayer money, I don’t think Senator Dodd will have to worry about his financial future…judging by the charts below, I don’t think many top Congressional leaders will either.
If they gave over $600,000 when they were broke, think how much they will give with an extra $170 billion.
