Sunday’s Sermon

Is faith the opposite of fear? Does perfect love dispel all fear?

Pride, greed, anger, lust, envy, gluttony and sloth are all fear based character defects which enslave many. God’s love, not man's imperfect love, does dispel and counteract these defects.

Since love is an action, as we reflect God’s love, we find freedom from fear, which cannot be attained with any of the above attitudes, actions or motives. When we act out of love, motivated by gratitude and service to God, the heart has no room for any of these fear-based defects.

Byproducts of reflecting the perfect love of God are unconditional acceptance, humility, generosity, patience, tolerance, kindness, forgiveness and self-control, as well as freedom from judgment, selfishness, resentment, revenge, bitterness, arrogance, rage and violence.

When God's perfect love begins to manifest in our lives, faith begins to develop and grow. Our faith becomes stronger as we experience the power of God’s spirit to change our mind, will and emotions. We experience a new life of peace and love and joy.

The big question: Are we hot, cold or lukewarm? Is the love we demonstrate free from conditions? Are our actions motivated out of gratitude or for self serving desires? Asking ourselves who we served today helps keep us focused and accountable.

We were all created for a purpose. When we realize and fulfill that purpose daily, we find peace, joy and meaning: an abundant life. This gift of life becomes free of bondage from fear and it's numerous manifestations.

The biggest difference between me and God is that God never thinks he’s Denney Crane.

Be a blessing to everyone you come in contact with every day.
